Announcement of 3 billion rupees aid package for flood affected Gilgit-Baltistan

Peshawar: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has emphasized on the recovery and reconstruction of the recent floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, an aid package of 3 billion rupees has been announced for the recovery and reconstruction of the damages.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made a special visit to Gilgit-Baltistan to take stock of the damage caused by the recent floods. Adviser on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Qamar-ul-Zaman Kaira and former Chief Minister GB Hafiz Hafeezur Rahman were also with the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also visited the badly affected areas of Ghazar district the Prime Minister met the flood victims of village Babbar. who saw 17 residents die due to the calamity.

On the occasion of the visit, the Prime Minister was also briefed by the provincial government and the district administration. The Prime Minister was told that after the flood, a total of 10,000 kanals of agricultural land has become useless, more than 1,000 houses have been partially or completely damaged.

Shahbaz Sharif was told that dozens of bridges, hundreds of water supply lines and water channels have been destroyed, hundreds of kilometers of road infrastructure have also been destroyed.
After the briefing and reviewing the situation, the Prime Minister announced 3 billion rupees for GB for rehabilitation and reconstruction, 1 million rupees to the families of the deceased, 100 million rupees for the development of Gaon Babbar, while the federal grant Through announced the construction of 5 km road in village Babbar.
